How DevDays Europe Began
DevDays Europe is an international software development conference created for developers, architects, engineering leaders and other technology practitioners. Its programmes combine technically detailed talks, hands-on workshops and peer exchange across programming languages, software architecture, cloud, data, artificial intelligence, DevOps, security and modern product engineering.
The conference has its roots in DevDays Vilnius, held in 2017 and 2018. The current numbered DevDays Europe sequence began with the 2019 conference. The two earlier Vilnius events belong to the same history, but they are not counted in the edition numbers now used by the organiser.
DevDays Europe 2020 was planned as the second edition but was cancelled during the COVID-19 outbreak. The official sequence retained that number, making 2024 the sixth edition, 2026 the eighth and the scheduled 2027 conference in Riga the ninth edition.
The series continued online in 2021 and 2022, then combined online reach with onsite conference days in Vilnius from 2023 to 2025. DevDays Europe began sharing one ticket with DevOps Pro Europe in 2023. CyberWiseCon Europe joined the shared conference experience in 2024, giving attendees access to software development, DevOps and cybersecurity sessions with one registration.
The 2026 edition returned to a fully onsite format in Vilnius. In 2027, the conference is scheduled to move to Riga for the first time while retaining its practical, cross-conference programme. DevDays Europe is organised by UAB DATA MINER.

The Story of Each Edition
2017: DevDays Vilnius Begins
The first DevDays Vilnius took place at Vilnius Grand Resort on –. Presented as an international conference and programming festival, it combined two conference days with a workshop day.
The programme covered programming languages, architecture, DevOps, data, machine learning, mobile and web development, security and engineering leadership. Contemporary event information recorded more than 40 practitioner speakers from over 20 countries, 600+ participants and nine workshops.
The official DevDays Vilnius 2017 aftermovie preserves a visual record of the event. This conference is best understood as the origin of the later DevDays Europe series rather than its first numbered edition.
2018: A Multi-Track DevDays Vilnius Programme
DevDays Vilnius returned on –, with two main conference days and three parallel halls.
The programme included keynotes, presentations and deeply technical sessions spanning reactive systems, cloud-native Java, GraphQL, continuous delivery, machine learning, testing and software design. As with the 2017 event, this edition belongs to the conference’s visible roots but sits outside the current DevDays Europe edition count.

2019: The First Numbered DevDays Europe Edition
The DevDays Europe name became the centre of the conference identity in 2019. A workshop day on was followed by two conference days at Multikino in Vilnius on –.
Four halls hosted practical, vendor-neutral sessions on programming languages, agile leadership, DevOps and microservices, software architecture, functional programming, data, machine learning, mobile development, IoT, web, user experience, performance and security.

2020: The Cancelled Second Edition
DevDays Europe 2020 was planned as a three-day conference in Vilnius on –. It did not take place on those dates because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The 2020 conference should therefore be described as cancelled, not as a completed event. A speaker appearance archive records a planned DevDays Europe presentation as cancelled because of coronavirus.
The event remains in this timeline because the organiser’s later numbering retained it as the second edition.
2021: The Conference Continues Online
DevDays Europe resumed on –, with an online programme of conference sessions and hands-on workshops.
The format allowed international speakers and participants to meet while travel restrictions and limits on physical gatherings still affected conferences across Europe.

2022: A Large Five-Track Online Edition
The fourth edition delivered two online conference days on –, followed by a separate workshop day on .
The organiser recorded 54 speakers and workshop trainers, 1,125 registered participants, seven hosts and five programme tracks. Sessions covered programming languages, data, web and mobile development, serverless systems and team practices.

2023: Online and Onsite, with DevOps Pro Europe
DevDays Europe 2023 combined online conference days on – with onsite days at Multikino in Vilnius on –.
This was the first year in which DevDays Europe and DevOps Pro Europe shared one ticket. Participants could move between the two programmes, bringing the software development and DevOps communities together in one event.

2024: Three Communities Under One Ticket
The sixth edition retained the online-plus-onsite model, with online sessions on –, and the physical programme at Multikino in Vilnius on –.
CyberWiseCon Europe joined DevDays Europe and DevOps Pro Europe in 2024. One registration now unlocked three related conferences, allowing attendees to move between development, operations and cybersecurity sessions.

2025: Workshops and a Three-Day Conference Programme
DevDays Europe 2025 opened with workshops at Vilnius Park Plaza on . Three conference days followed at Multikino on –, with both Vilnius and online participation.
The one-ticket model again connected DevDays Europe, DevOps Pro Europe and CyberWiseCon Europe. Attendees could combine software engineering sessions with cloud, operations, platform engineering and cybersecurity content.

2026: The Eighth Edition in Vilnius
The eighth edition began with workshops at SIMBIOCITY Nova on . Three onsite conference days followed at Forum Cinemas Vingis on –.
DevDays Europe, DevOps Pro Europe and CyberWiseCon Europe again shared one ticket. The programme brought together modern software engineering, architecture, AI, cloud-native systems, platform engineering, security and digital product development in a cinema-style conference environment.

2027: The Ninth Edition Moves to Riga
DevDays Europe 2027 is scheduled to begin with workshops at the National Library of Latvia on . The main conference will run at Apollo Kino Akropole in Riga on –.
The announced edition is planned for 700+ attendees, 100+ speakers and participants from 35+ countries, with six tracks, eight or more workshops and four programme days.
The move to Riga extends the series beyond its long-standing Vilnius base while preserving the one-ticket combination of DevDays Europe, DevOps Pro Europe and CyberWiseCon Europe. Announced subject areas include AI and machine learning, cloud-native development, programming languages, software architecture, cybersecurity, open source, platform engineering, sustainable software and emerging application experiences.
